Certificate of Professional Development

Hi all, I hope that you are all feeling rested after the Christmas break and that exams went well for everyone who had them. I thought that this month I’d let you know about the Certificate of Professional Developmentoffered by the Skills Development service, which is part of Cardiff University. I have completed a few sessions this week and have found them very useful. Sessions offered cover a wide range of topics and are split into four sections: communication, personal effectiveness, leadership and progression and wellbeing. The sessions are open to any Cardiff university students, and a timetable and details of how to sign up can be found on the SDS section of the Cardiff Student’s Union website.

The sessions are useful alone, helping you to develop skills that you would like to work on before you graduate or apply for jobs. You also have the opportunity to achieve a Certificate of Professional Development by attending 5 core units under each group title. This is signed jointly by the vice-chancellor of the university and the president of the Students’ Union, and will look great on your CV when applying for jobs and internships. As well as demonstrating that you have the skills to work in a professional environment, a CPD certificate shows employers that you are able to take responsibility for your own personal development and take advantage of opportunities to learn new skills.

Overall, the certificate of professional development is an excellent opportunity to develop your skills and looks great to prospective employers. If you’d like some more information or to take part please check out the link below.

Hello Katie, I was wondering if it would be possible if we could talk to you about some queries I have about optometry and anything related to Cardiff University? I would really appreciate it :)
    Regards, Hannah.
