Hey everyone, how are you all?
I’m guessing most people round the country are stressing a bit right now, as exam season is approaching all too quickly! The same vibe is here in Cardiff, as everyone has understood that it’s crunch time, and have started working flat-out. What’s scary is that me and my course mates have so many essays to give in, as well as our dissertations and then have to sit a few exams, it means that we only have secured 50% of our marks for our whole degree under our belts up so far, and now we’re about to sit the next 50%! This really means that there is everything to play for as it’s possible to either move up into the next grade boundary, or sink down to the one below, depending on how well you do.
Since the last time I spoke to you all, I’ve been working really hard all day, everyday. Whilst I’m at the same stage as some people – finishing off essays before revision can start – it makes you extremely nervous when you hear some people have finished their essays and have moved on to focus on revision. It’s that nervous energy, (or ”The Fear” we call it!) that I’ve found that keeps you going, I’m pleased with my progress though as I’ve now got one more essay to add some words to and tidy up. I should then I should also be able to move on to revision. Anyway, I won’t bore you with any more ‘work’ talk, as it always just ends up worrying you (and me for that matter)!
So let me tell you about the nice things I’ve done this week. On Wednesday the ENCAP squad got together, and my fellow social secretary and I held an awards ceremony for ‘most improved player’, ‘best A team player’, ‘best B team player’ and ‘best socialite’. That was a lovely night as all the girls dressed up really nice in dresses and heels, and we had a wonderful dinner, and took about million photos! It was really sad to come to the realisation that this year all the respective commitments are coming to and end now. We did a sort of ‘handover’ ceremony where we introduced the new captains and social secs’ for next year along with just expressing our deepest appreciation to the girls not only for doing so well in the leagues – ENCAP A came top of the 1st league, and ENCAP B came top of the 2nd league – but for making such a great effort with the socials, fancy dress and generally helping us to have such a good time! I’m really sad to have to say ‘goodbye’ to ENCAP netball, but I know its going to continue to be a fantastic squad, full of really talented girls who play great netball, and have wild socials! I’m hoping to come back next year for a night and go out with them all again.
The whole university is starting to wind down now ready to say ‘goodbye’ to this year, before saying ‘hello’ to the next one so there are loads of balls and ending ceremonies going on at the moment, but you’ve got to restrict yourself to how many you can go to as there’s so much work to do!
So that’s about it for this week really, I’ll round off now as I’ve got an essay calling my name, and I really need to get it done! I’ll post again next weekend when I’ll be teetering on the edge of handing in my essays and my dissertation, and will be about to sit my first ‘final’ exam…scary! Until then, good luck with revision, exams, essays – just work hard and do your best, that’s only the most anyone can ever ask of you. See you then x
