Self Care

Sorry this is a bit of a short one today, I’m currently attempting to find somewhere else to finish my placement year at the moment, so I’m a little stressed! After my 3rd hour sat in exactly the same spot at the computer, I decided that I should probably give myself a break, and practice a little self care!

I saw this slightly cheesy (and also very lovely and very useful) buzzfeed list, and it made me think about how, as students, we really do fail on the self care front pretty frequently.

I just made a mood diary, like the one from number 1 on the list. I think it’s a good way to see how your lifestyle is improving your mood (or putting you in a bad mood!) you can see if those early nights are making you feel better, if you need to be around friends a bit more at the moment etc.

This is also a good time to remind you all of the fantastic services Cardiff Uni provides, should  things get too stressful or difficult. You can call Cardiff Nightline, or contact the wellbeing team. You can get in touch with them about anything that’s bothering you; work stress, relationship problems, anxiety about exams etc. There is certainly no shame in getting help if you’re struggling.

The University also has some lovely events aimed at helping you de-stress, so make sure you keep up to date with the Student Union (I think you can follow them on facebook!).

Be kind to yourselves!
